Merino wool - a miracle of nature

Merino sheep belong to the world's oldest and most durable sheep breeds. This special breed originates from North Africa and today is known around the world for its unique characteristics. Merino sheep are prepared for every climate zone and can withstand both freezing cold and extreme heat.

Thanks to the natural structure of their fur, they can handle temperature differences of up to 40 degrees without problems, because it cools in the heat and warms in the cold. Merino wool is collected from living merino sheep. The good thing about it is that the sheep's wool regrows completely naturally, so the wool is naturally ecological.

Super.natural trusts its origin, which is why we source our merino wool from African farms. We trust the German worsted wool manufacturer Südwolle. As the world's leading comb operator, the company complies with the latest ecological certifications, including Bluesign and Oeko-Tex standards.

Super.natural's merino wool in detail

Merino wool, a miracle of nature, convinces with its properties: its antibacterial keratin keeps odors away, reduces washing and wear. This amazing fiber absorbs 35% of its weight in moisture. Combined with polyester, it wicks away moisture quickly and keeps you comfortable. The fusion of materials guarantees a smooth, very soft surface and top-level comfort. Merino wool also protects against UV rays (SPF 40+), regulates temperatures and is thus ideal in heat and cold.

Compared to synthetic fibers, the fiber structure of merino wool is less wear-resistant and tear-resistant due to its nature. Therefore, the fiber blend combines the natural flexibility of merino wool with the durability of polyester. This enables the products to have a unique shape retention and durability.

Merino wool's natural enzyme keratin, which is part of it
composition, offers an antibacterial and dirt-repellent effect,
preventing the formation of unpleasant odors - even heavy sweating
or after several uses. Compared to cotton or
to synthetic fabrics, merino wool clothing is therefore needed less often

Heat and humidity control

Heat and humidity control

The hydrophilic fibers of merino wool can absorb more than 35% of their own weight in moisture, without the clothes feeling cold and damp or sticking to the skin. However, merino wool dries more slowly than artificial fibers, so the polyester core of super.natural's fiber ensures a faster transfer of moisture to the outside and thus guarantees a pleasant feeling on the body.
