LORenz WAgner founded LOWA in 1923 in the Bavarian town of Jetzendorf. Fun fact: The Wagner family had an entrepreneurial spirit. All three brothers of the family founded their own company: Hans Wagner founded Hanwag and Adolf Wagner Hochland.

In addition to its headquarters in Jetzendorf, LOWA has branches in Switzerland, the USA, Italy and Slovakia. The company became part of the Italian Tecnica group in 1993.

Tecnica Group owns 80 percent of LOWA and Werner Riethmann (CEO of LOWA) 20 percent.

Today, LOWA sells more than 3 million pairs of shoes around the world. If you put all these shoes side by side, you would end up with a line about 1,200 kilometers long, the length of the Alps (from east to west).
